Nepali madal is a double-headed drum that is native to Nepal. It has a cylindrical body that is made from hollowed-out wood and is usually around 16-18 inches in length and 10-12 inches in diameter. The two heads of the drum are made from animal hide, typically goat skin or buffalo skin. The body of the drum is often made from wood, such as the wood of the jackfruit tree or mango tree.
\n
The design of the madal is relatively simple. It has a rope or leather strap that runs around the body of the drum and connects the two heads. The strap can be tightened or loosened to tune the drum. When played, the madal produces a deep, resonant sound. The two heads of the drum produce different tones, allowing the player to create a wide range of rhythms and beats.
